What Our Patients
Are Saying

"I had such a wonderful experience with Amy, from the first appointment to the last. I came to her for acupuncture fertility support during IVF after years of trying to get pregnant, and continued seeing Amy through my entire pregnancy. It was a wonderful and nurturing experience, that supported us in a successful IVF and healthful pregnancy. Thank you!"

A Recent Success Story

A new patient came to see me in March. She was 41 years old and had been diagnosed with a hypothyroid condition which often produces feelings of cold and sluggishness and can be quite common in women having fertility issues. She had a 21-month old daughter and she and her husband had been trying unsuccessfully to conceive again. She was about to start her third IUI cycle.

I treated her with weekly acupuncture treatments through the IUI cycle, but, unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. She decided not to do another IUI in the following month, but we continued with the weekly acupuncture treatments. During that month, she was pleased when she realized that she lost 15 pounds even though she hadn't made any significant changes to her diet or exercise. We both thought that the acupuncture treatments had perhaps stimulated her thyroid which had led to the weight loss. Although she didn't get pregnant that month, she was encouraged by the acupuncture treatments and decided to try one more month before going back to another IUI cycle.

The third month of treatment I had her start taking a natural herbal supplement in addition to the acupuncture. After four weeks of treatment, she called in to say she was pregnant! She has since had an ultrasound where she heard the heartbeat and everything looked great. I am continuing to see her through her pregnancy.

The Birth-Control Pill Sold Without a Prescription?

An over-the-counter version has long been called for, but it could soon be available if a group of practitioners and advocates have their way.

A group of health workers and advocates are taking advantage of a mounting body of research that shows the pill could be safe for nonprescription use. They hope to have a proposal before the FDA within the year and an over-the-counter pill available in five years. And though their work focuses on female reproductive care, it offers a glimpse into what the future of American Health Care and medication could be.
